Local Area Information
Ugborough is a quintessential South Hams village, known for its charm, tranquillity and strong sense of community. Tucked away from any main roads, it offers a wonderfully peaceful setting while still feeling vibrant and lived-in, with a pre-school, primary school, historic church and two excellent village pubs. Both are just moments from The Haven — step out of the front door and turn left for The Ship or right for The Anchor.
While there is no shop in the village itself, everything you might need is close at hand. The neighbouring village of Ermington (just 3 miles away) has an excellent village shop and café, and Ivybridge offers both a Co-op and a Tesco Express. For a larger shop, there is a Tesco Superstore at Lee Mill, just 10 minutes down the A38.
Ugborough is perfectly positioned for exploring the very best of South Devon. The southern edge of Dartmoor is just a 10-minute drive away, offering endless opportunities for walking and exploring, while the stunning South Hams coastline is equally accessible. Mothecombe — one of our personal favourites — is around 15 minutes by car, and the iconic Bigbury-on-Sea and Burgh Island can be reached in approximately 25 minutes.
To make the most of your stay, we strongly recommend having a car, as public transport is extremely limited, with bus services running only once a week.
